PROUD to host Summer Nurse Camp
Mennonite College of Nursing’s (MCN) PROUD Team will host its second annual Summer Nurse Camp June 23–25 at Illinois State University. This year MCN is gearing up for 24 high school students interested in learning more about nursing careers and so much more.
Plans are underway for the students to get job-shadowing experiences at area hospitals and CPR training, to learn and practice basic nursing skills, and to find out what it takes to attend nursing school, all while living in the campus residence halls. The students will also tour and experience MCN’s state-of-the art Nursing Simulation Lab.
Olanna Pullen ’97, M.S. ’07, outreach coordinator for the PROUD Team, is leading this year’s camp. Applications for camp were due April 15. If you have questions about Summer Nurse Camp or the PROUD program, please email PROUD@IllinoisState.edu.
Summer Nurse Camp is sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide nursing education opportunities for individuals from educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
