Illinois State University’s American Democracy Project (ADP) will host a State of the Union Tweet-Up, a watch party and social media event around the State of the Union Address, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Schroeder Hall room 242. The event is free and open to the public.
During the event, participants will live-tweet in response to the President’s State of the Union Address using the #iSOTU hashtag, while following along with a social media broadcast put on by Illinois State’s Social Media Analytics Command Center (SMACC). A brief discussion will follow the address. ADP will provide free pizza and beverages for those in attendance.
The American Democracy Project is dedicated to educating students on responsible civic and political engagement. Illinois State was selected along with 10 other campuses nationwide as model political engagement institutions by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) in 2006 and received the national Program of Excellence Award for Political Engagement in 2011.
