Danielle Miller-Schuster, interim assistant vice president for the Division of Student Affairs, has been named the recipient of the Neal R. Gamsky Award. She will be honored at Founders Day on Feb. 19.
Miller-Schuster joined Illinois State University in August 1998. She serves as a member of the senior leadership team for the Division of Student Affairs. In her role, she is responsible for the supervision of the Career Center, Bone Student Center/Braden Auditorium, Campus Recreation/Student Fitness Center, and division-wide initiatives including professional development, planning and assessment, and co-curricular engagement initiatives. She assists with the direction and operations of the Division of Student Affairs in providing educationally purposeful programs, services and facilities that foster student development, persistence and success.
Miller-Schuster is a proud alumna of Illinois State where she received her bachelor’s degree in political science, master’s degree in college student personnel administration, and a Ph.D. in educational administration and foundations.
In her nomination, Miller-Schuster was described as the consummate role model, inspiring people around her with an incredible drive, positive attitude, support of her colleagues and a solid commitment to the Redbird family. A student reported that Danielle “makes me want to do better.” This type of positive impact is representative of Danielle’s career at Illinois State and many other aspects of her life.
