ISU baseball, softball look forward to home openers

The Illinois State baseball and softball teams are gearing up for another season.

The baseball team will hit the road for 16 games before opening a three-game series against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Duffy Bass Field on March 18. The softball team will be on the road for 32 games before playing its first game at Marian Kneer Stadium on March 30 against DePaul.

The Redbird baseball team was picked to finish 6th and the Illinois State softball team was picked to finish 5th in the MVC preseason poll. The 2015 MVC Newcomer of the Year, Jacob Hendren, and Joe Kelch were both named to the preseason all-conference team. The softball team boasts two players on the preseason all-conference team, juniors Jordan de los Reyes and Annie Heineman.

All home games for both baseball and softball are free and open to the public.
