The Department of Chemistry at Illinois State University is gearing up for its 50th anniversary with a banquet and local golf outing.

The public is invited to take part in the Chemistry Golf Outing from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University.

The scramble golf outing is for players of all skill levels. Registration is needed by April 22, and forms are available online. Registration includes golf with cart, snacks, tee gifts, and lunch from Avanti’s Restaurant.

Cost for the event is $90 per person, with all proceeds going to support the Department of Chemistry.

Banquet and awards

The 50th Anniversary Banquet featuring senior awards will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Normal.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and family will gather for dinner and an evening of celebration and fellowship to honor the history of the department, founded in September of 1966, and graduating seniors as well.
