Journalism in China will be the topic of the next Faculty Research Seminar from the Department of History.
Assistant Professor of History Qiliang He will present “The Use of Newspapers: Some Reflections on the History of Journalism in China” at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in Schroeder Hall, room 108.
He will cover a host of issues related to the press in China in late-Qing and Republican times, and will touch upon a number of topics in relation to Chinese newspapers, including the press and the rise of a new public as well as the journalistic practice of “literati-cumpolitical-commentators” (wenren lunzheng).
