Poet and scholar Bill Morgan will read from his debut collection of poetry, The Art of Salvage at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Normal Public Library.
Morgan, a retired Department of English faculty member, will read from his book and bring signed copies.
The book is the first release of Downstate Legacies, a new, nationally distributed imprint launched through Illinois State University’s Publications Unit, with the support of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology’s Innovations Grant.
“The grant allowed Sutherland Fellow in poetry and Publications Unit graduate assistant Tessy Ward to work on the book’s editing, design, production, promotion, and distribution,” said Publications Director Steve Halle, who noted Ward worked in partnership with several talented students at University High School in Normal.
Morgan has published two print chapbooks of poems, Trackings: The Body’s Memory, the Heart’s Fiction and Sky with Six Geese as well as one e-chapbook, Spare Parts and Whole Poems in Various Shapes and Sizes. His individual poems have appeared in multiple journals.
