Professor T.Y. Wang from the Department of Politics and Government published a post on the Washington Post‘s Monkey Cage blog on May 20, 2016.
The post is entitled “Japan is building tiny islands in the Philippine Sea. Here’s why.” The piece shows a long-ignored fact: Japan has been engaging in island building to expand its territorial claims for decades. Japan, however, is one of the nations bashing China for its land-grabbing activities in the South China Sea and insisting on its rights of navigation. While Japan’s island-building activities in the Philippines Sea are not as extensive as China’s, Tokyo’s activities show an obvious double standard and are equally problematic.
