The P–20 Teacher and Leadership Effectiveness Committee, in collaboration with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), will be hosting a webinar for our members. Jason Helfer, the deputy state superintendent, will present on ISBE’s new effort to strengthen data collection, sharing, and reporting for teacher preparation programs.
The Partnership for Educator Preparation (PEP), a steering committee consisting of a diverse team of stakeholders representing the state, will provide input and guidance in the design and content of ISBE’s revised accountability and program improvement system for teacher preparation. The goals of this new system are to ensure that all novice teachers in Illinois are ready to support student learning upon entering the classroom, and that data is used as a tool for continuous improvement to strengthen teacher preparation statewide. The PEP Steering Committee will meet one more times before offering its recommendations on August 31.
The webinar will be held from 3–4 p.m. August 22. Please register if you are interested in hearing about the new data collection efforts.
