This free event starts at 5:30 p.m. in Uptown Circle with a special performance by the Big Red Marching Machine and Illinois State University cheerleaders. Followed shortly after, Illinois State and the Town of Normal will come together to light the trees red and white to shine bright throughout Homecoming and the rest of the year.
Those in attendance are welcome visit the University Galleries following the program until 8 p.m. for refreshments and enjoy carriage rides from Hileman Carriage around Uptown Normal from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Kickoff on the Quad
After lighting up Normal, students and fans can head over to the annual Kickoff on the Quad from 6 to 8 p.m. Give some Redbird cheers after hearing exciting remarks from Vice President for Student Affairs Levester Johnson and football coach Brock Spack.
