Politics and Government associate professor Thomas McClure has been appointed the the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Paralegals Approval Commission for a one-year term by ABA president Linda A. Klein.
Members of the Approval Commission conduct site visits for paralegal education programs seeking ABA approval and/or reapproval. Commission members typically chair at least four site visits each year. Each visit lasts from two to three days depending on the location of the program. Site teams draft detailed site visit reports.
McClure was instrumental in gaining initial ABA approval of the Illinois State University Legal Studies program in 2009. McClure, along with department chair Ali Riaz, spearheaded the effort to adopt a Legal Studies major, which was launched in fall 2014.
