To celebrate National Nutrition Month, Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality (EMDH) is collaborating with Health Promotion and Wellness to encourage students to learn how to “put their best fork forward” in the dining centers during March.
From March 20 to March 31, EMDH and Wellness will offer a “Healthy Dining Hacks” campaign in Watterson Dining Commons and the Marketplace at Linkins Center. Students will be able to flaunt their creativity in the dining centers by creating their own nutritious dish from the different serving stations. Students can then post pictures of their creation on Instagram with the hashtag “#bestforkforwardISU.” At the end of the month, the student(s) with the best healthy hack will each receive a “Snack Attack Prize Pack,” full of healthy treats and more.
Have you been looking for new ways to spice up that piece of toast or dress up your salad? The Dining and Wellness team will also be posting fun and healthy hints and recipes throughout the dining centers. Just look for the hashtag “#bestforkforwardISU”.
The purpose of this promotion is to increase awareness of the healthy options offered in the dining centers, as well as to promote the overall consumption of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and eating a well-balanced diet. “National Nutrition Month was created to help raise awareness of how everyone can incorporate more nutritious options into their diets. We hope this promotion helps students learn how to find such options in their dining centers, while having a bit of fun doing it,” EMDH Associate Director Dianne Feasley said.
Each healthy hack submitted into the contest is required to include one serving of a fruit or vegetable. To be eligible for submission, the Instagram picture must also have the required hashtag “#bestforkforwardISU” and tag @diningilstate.
