Illinois State Politics and Government Professor Ali Riaz has published a paper on Islamic education in the South Asian Journal of Social Science.
The paper, titled “Challenges to Islamic Education,” examines the challenges to Islamic education in Muslim majority societies with special reference to the institutionalization of Islamic education. Riaz argues that understanding these challenges requires a discussion of the concept of knowledge and education within the Islamic worldview.

Riaz is an internationally recognized scholar in Bangladeshi politics and is often sought out by the international media for commentary. He is the author of many books, the most recent of which is Bangladesh: A Political History of Bangladesh Since Independence.
