Illinois State University’s Civic Chorale will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. The concert’s theme is a musical tribute to African American spirituals. Tickets are $10 for adult general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased in advance and pre-concert at the CPA Box Office.
The concert program will feature Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass and spiritual arrangements by Bloomington-Normal’s newest a cappella group, Beauties and the Beat. The concert will also include excerpts from Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream…” speech along with other individual choral selections. The Civic Chorale is conducted by School of Music faculty member John Koch.
