On Monday, May 6, the School of Theatre and Dance and the Alumni Association will host the 2019 Actor Showcase, an annual event highlighting the creative abilities of the University’s talented acting students from the Class of 2019.
With the help of professor Connie de Veer, students have prepared monologues or songs that best represent their abilities. This one-night only event is an opportunity for the selected graduating seniors to make connections with those currently working in the field, possibly resulting in representation from some of Chicago’s finest acting agencies. “It’s like an entrance into the Chicago market,” said professor de Veer. “They are seen by just about every theatre, agency, and casting director in the city. It puts them in the casting pipeline and helps them build their network.”
The 2019 Showcase will be held at Victory Gardens Začek McVay Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., in Chicago. The Showcase is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. No tickets will be mailed, however a reservation list will be checked at the door. If you would like to attend, register online or call Alumni Engagement – Chicago Office at (309) 438-3500. The registration deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29.
The showcase runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m., immediately followed by an hors d’oeuvres reception in the lobby from 7:30-9 p.m.
