A new addition to the Eckelmann-Taylor Speech and Hearing Clinic is as impressive as it is small! The Communication Sciences and Disorders Department (CSD) recently purchased an auditory brainstem response (ABR) and otoacoustic emissions baby simulator to be used for educational purposes by our graduate audiology students.
Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) conducted a fundraiser to name the baby simulator; members contributed penny votes toward potential names. CSD and SAA are proud to announce that the baby has officially been named Birdie, in homage to the Illinois State University mascot, Reggie Redbird.
Gaining experience with ABR’s can be difficult. This new equipment will greatly improve the classroom and clinic experiences offered to audiology graduate students at Illinois State!
