Open forums for students whose majors are housed in the College of Arts and Sciences will be from 3-4:30 p.m. October 27-29. All CAS students are invited to take part in the virtual open forums. The aim of the forums is to generate action items on topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion that are slated to be presented to CAS leadership in early November.

“This is an opportunity to let your voice be heard,” said senior Logan Williams, one of the students organizing the forums through the Office of the President. “We are providing a space for students to speak their minds with other students, knowing those thoughts will be crafted into actionable items that will be presented to college leaders.”

Those participating in the forums will also help in the formation of a student-led diversity, equity, and inclusion council. “CAS is the first in a series of forums we hope to have across campus,” said Samiat Solebo, who is organizing the forums with Williams under the guidance of the Interim Assistant to the President for Diversity and Inclusion.

Each of the three forums will focus on concerns of specific majors:
October 27– English, Communications, History, Philosophy and Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
October 28– Economics, Politics and Government, Social Work, Sociology and Anthropology, and Communication Sciences and Disorders
October 29– Biology; Chemistry; Geography, Geology and the Environment; Mathematics; and Physics

The Zoom link will be listed as an event on Redbird Life.
