The Center for the Study of Education Policy (CSEP) submitted public comment regarding proposed priorities for the FY 21 Competition for the Effective Educator Development (EED) Division at the U.S. Department of Education. CSEP currently has a five-year $16.8M Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant and had a five-year $4.6M School Leadership Preparation and Development Network (SLPDN) grant, both of which are housed under the EED Division.
Proposed priorities for EED FY 21 Competitions align well with the center’s research-based work around leadership development and support, and especially around a new CSEP priority to recruit, support, and sustain a diverse leadership pipeline in Illinois schools. This year, CSEP released a series of Leadership for Equity (LFE) Micro-Credentials developed through a collaboration of Regional Offices of Education, school districts, and universities in partnership with BloomBoard. The LFE Micro-Credentials are designed to help aspiring and current leaders at both the building and district level develop competencies that will support greater equity in their districts and schools.
