The Division of Student Affairs invites students, staff, alumni, and friends to attend a number of events to help celebrate 100 years of Homecoming.
Monday, October 11
Homecoming Kickoff
5-7 p.m. on the Quad
Get ready to kick off Homecoming 2021:100 Years! Celebrate school spirit as we kick off this milestone Homecoming year alongside President Kinzy, Reggie Redbird, and Coach Spack.
We will have free food and live entertainment from Sweet Water along with a special appearance by the Big Red Marching Machine. Giveaways and many Redbird photo ops will be onsite as well.
This event is in partnership with the Alumni Association, Student Alumni Council, and Student Activities.
Tuesday, October 12
Redbird Rumble
7-9 p.m. at Hancock Stadium
Students are invited to join Campus Recreation to participate, cheer, and get into the Homecoming spirit with a little friendly Redbird competition. This event allows the opportunity to compete in a variety of fun team events and show your Redbird pride.
Friday, October 15
Multicultural Center Dedication and Ribbon Cutting
2 p.m. at the Multicultural Center, 301 S. Main St.
The Illinois State University Board of Trustees and President Terri Goss Kinzy will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Multicultural Center. As part of this year’s Homecoming schedule, the dedication offers students, alumni, donors, faculty, and staff the chance to visit the center. Tours will be available following the ceremony.
Association of Residence Halls (ARH) 50th Anniversary Alumni and Friends Social
5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Escalante Room, Hewett-Manchester Halls
Connect with fellow ARH alumni as we celebrate 50 years of being the voice for Illinois State students living in the residence halls. Enjoy light appetizers and ISU goodies as you reconnect with ARH members from your time as a student, meet student leaders, and visit with housing staff. The event is free to attend. Saturday, October 16
Hybrid Town and Gown 5K/1 mile fun run/walk
8 a.m. beginning at the Student Fitness Center
Illinois State’s Homecoming has been around for 100 years, and the Town and Gown 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk has been included for the last 20. Celebrate this milestone on campus or wherever you are for our first hybrid race. The in-person race will take off at the Student Fitness Center and make its way through Uptown Normal and around campus. Virtual runners can begin wherever they choose. Registration is required.
Association of Residence Halls 50th Anniversary Residential Tailgate
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Tri-Towers Lawn

Reggie’s Homecoming Substance-Free Tailgate
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Redbird Tent Zone North Lawn
Students are invited to join Reggie and friends for Reggie’s Substance-Free Tailgate before the game. Enjoy free food, live music by emerging American Country Music artist, Eric Chesser, a photo booth, door prizes, games, and more.
