Distinguished Professor Dr. Ali Riaz has established scholarships and an award for graduate students at his alma mater Dhaka University (DU), Bangladesh.
The “Ali Riaz Post-Graduate Research Prize Trust Fund” was established with a donation from Riaz. Several students of the thesis group of the department of mass communication and journalism will receive funding for research while the best thesis will be accorded a prize every year. A ceremony marking the founding of the fund was held at the office of the vice chancellor of the university on October 10. Vice Chancellor Akhtaruzzaman, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarkar, the dean of the social sciences, and the department chair were present at the event.
