The Senior Professionals lifelong-learning classes is returning for the spring with classes offered in a hybrid format on subjects ranging from storm chasing and book censorship, to more local areas such as the impact of Rivian in Bloomington-Normal. Participants may choose to attend in person or via Zoom.
The Academy of Seniors classes begin Tuesday, February 22, with A Listener’s Guide to Opera. Other classes in the spring semester series will cover wind and solar energy in Illinois, weather forecasting in Central Illinois, and Native American history.
Mornings with the Professors lectures begin Friday, March 25, with a deep dive into how CRISPR gene editing has revolutionized science in the last few years. Other classes in the series focus on unusual and unique sites in Illinois, the impact of Rivan in the Twin Cities, and a look into book burning and censorship in the past and present.
A Classroom Journey will take place on Wednesday, May 11, with a guided tour of Anderson Japanese Gardens. The tour will also explore the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens.

Academy of Seniors and Mornings with the Professors are adult-enrichment programs sponsored by Illinois State University’s Senior Professionals organization. Classes are taught by professors from Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, and by community experts.
