The 2022 Food for Thought exhibit runs from April 5-29 at Milner Library.

An exhibit coming to Illinois State University’s Milner Library highlights the work of students to bring cultural understanding through food.

FOOD for THOUGHT: Understanding Cultural Identity and Heritage Through Food will be on display from April 5-29 in the Russel E. and Barbara J. Benway Student Art Exhibition Area on the second floor of Milner Library. An opening reception will be held at the exhibit at 3 p.m. April 19.

FOOD for THOUGHT is a project from Associate Professor of Graphic Design Archana Shekara. She asked students in her Art 351 class to create information design posters about one dish from their ancestral country and trace the food’s history, ingredients, and relevance. “Each poster expresses the designer’s cultural background,” said Shekara, who is also the curator of the exhibit. Food for Thought invites audiences to celebrate different heritages through diverse cuisine.”
