A retirement reception for Susan Marquardt Blystone will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. on June 28 in room 116 of the Alumni Center. Blystone is ending her 27-year career in University Marketing and Communications (UMC), where she serves as an associate director and editor of the alumni magazine.

Prior to joining ISU in 1995, Blystone developed the higher education beat for The Pantagraph. She was the first marketing and public relations coordinator for Heartland Community College. At Illinois State, she has played a leadership role in helping the University reach external audiences under the direction of seven presidents.

A dual graduate, Blystone authored Where are all the Redbirds? in partnership with ISU graphic designer Mike Mahle. She also wrote The Keepers of the Flame: 100 Years of Stories to commemorate Mennonite College of Nursing’s centennial celebration.
