The National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University is proud to announce our active candidates pursuing National Board Certification who were nominated for and who have received recognition for state and national awards.
For over 50 years, the Illinois State Board of Education has sponsored the “Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year” awards. This annual program gives distinction to select Illinois educators, support personnel, teams, volunteers, and administration for their outstanding contributions by showing their dedication to their craft in teaching young minds in the state’s public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools.
Keva Rush, Peoria, Illinois
Rush, a seventh grade teacher from Glen Oak Community Learning Center, is a recipient of the Award for Meritorious Service.
The Golden Apple Award is highly competitive and only a select few are chosen as finalists from numerous nominees. The winners of the award receive a spring sabbatical courtesy of Northwestern University, a monetary prize, and will become Fellows of the Golden Apple Academy of Educators.
