Heather Segerstrom

Illinois State University registered health information technician-health informatics and management alum Heather Segerstrom ’14, RHIA, CCS, was awarded the Illinois Health Information Management Association (ILHIMA) Ambassador of the Year in April at the Illinois Health Information Management Association Conference.

Segerstrom is a health information manager at Carle Health and has continually supported the health informatics and management (HIM) program as a clinical supervisor. She serves as HIM adjunct faculty and is an active member of the HIM Advisory Committee. Segerstrom has been working in the HIM profession for almost 30 years. 

Senior HIM students Christine Sanders and Carissa Simon received the Edna K. Huffman Award. This award is given to health information students in their final semester who have demonstrated leadership, academic achievement, personal achievement, strong personal qualities, and volunteerism. 

Senior HIM student Jacqueline Kendall received a 2023 ILHIMA Scholarship. 

HIM Junior student, Alexie Martin, was sworn in as a Student Liaison on the ILHIMA Board at the ILHIMA meeting on April 21.
