The Department of Agriculture recently hosted its Agriculture 3 Minute Presentation (AGR 3MP) contest on April 20 for undergraduate students to showcase their research. The event was created to highlight the diverse range of research being undertaken by students within the department. This year’s event had eight participants representing five different agriculture majors, and the students were advised by nine faculty members.
The presentations covered a wide range of topics, including:
Student | Presentation Title |
Julia Schmid | Farm Input and Farmland Value Correlation |
Sophia Reavley | GIS Mapping and Record Verification for Fell Arboretum |
Gabi Hudson | Exploring Agriculture Through Art |
Riley Nebel | Greenhouse Corn Performance in Monoculture vs. in Intercropping |

After careful consideration by a panel of judges, Riley Nebel was named the winner for his presentation on “Greenhouse corn performance in monoculture vs. in intercropping.” Sophia Reavley was the runner-up for her presentation on “GIS mapping and record verification for Fell Arboretum.”
The event was well-attended, with approximately 65 people in attendance to hear about the research being conducted by undergraduate students in the Department of Agriculture. The AGR 3MP contest provided a platform for students to showcase their work and encouraged them to further develop their presentation and communication skills.
Overall, the event was a great success and highlights the important research being conducted by undergraduate students in the Department of Agriculture at Illinois State University.
