The campus community is invited to an open house reception celebrating the retirement of Georgia Martin, from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, June 30, in the Alumni Center Room 116. Remarks will begin at 1:30 p.m. Please join us in honoring Georgia’s many achievements and over 34 years of dedicated service to Illinois State University.

Georgia’s journey began in 1989 at the Office of Residential Life before transitioning to Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction in 1991. Since then, she has held several positions and is currently an assistant director. Her unwavering commitment and adaptability have been instrumental in shaping her position into what it is today.

Throughout her tenure, Georgia’s dedication extended beyond her role. She was an active member of committees such as the University Naming Committee, Capital Planning and Budget Team, and the Division Strategic Planning–Business Process Improvement Team. In addition, she was a Wellness Ambassador for 30 years. Her expertise was also invaluable on search committees for the associate vice president of Facilities Services and vice president of Finance and Planning.

Beyond her professional achievements, Georgia finds solace in her love for the ocean, relishing walks along the seashore. As she enters retirement, Georgia envisions a warmer climate and seeks to surround herself with nature, embracing the serenity of a beautiful yard or nearby retreats. Her faith plays a significant role in her life, as she actively engages with her church community, including involvement in the Deeper Still ministry and leadership in the Bible Study Fellowship.

Georgia’s retirement opens a new chapter filled with the prospect of quality time with her husband, Steve, cherished moments with family and friends, and the opportunity to explore volunteering and follow her spiritual calling.

Georgia will be missed by many of her peers at Illinois State, and we wish her all the best on her retirement. We hope there are many adventures that await her as she starts this new journey.
