In collaboration with the Jo Ann Rayfield Archives at Illinois State, the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program is putting out a call to alumni and all members of the campus community for any artifacts, materials, photos, or stories related to the WGSS Program at Illinois State. We’ve already received some real treasures, but we are eager to expand the collection.

For all personal photo donations, Archives staff will work with donors on licensing and copyright questions.  Materials to be archived may include, but are not limited to:

  • WGSS campus events: Personal photos of WGSS events or programs (i.e., Symposium, Take Back the Night, art exhibits in Rachel Cooper Gallery, Vagina Monologues, etc.). Please name the events and people in the photos.
  • Social justice movements: Any materials related to social justice work on campus and in the community (i.e., documents, meeting notes, posters, buttons, T-shirts, photos, news clippings, diaries, etc.).
  • ISU student organizations (i.e., PRIDE, FLAME, FMLA, SERC, LGBTQ Institute): Any materials related to programs or outreach events sponsored by student groups.
  • Student, faculty, staff, and community testimonies: Tell us about the moments you most remember during your time at Illinois State. For instance, did you attend the Black Lives Matter protest? Did you present at the symposium? Did you have an internship in the community that was meaningful? Was there a professor or mentor that made a difference in your life?
  • WGSS classes: We are also looking for WGSS class syllabi, assignments, notes, and handouts, exams, quizzes, etc.
  • Ephemera: Any objects, creations, or memorabilia you’d like to share. Photos of these items are fine.

If you have anything you would like to donate to the WGSS collection, the Archives is ready to accept physical and digital materials.  In addition to physical items, Archives can accept most digital formats.  Please contact April Anderson-Zorn, University Archivist, at aander2@IllinoisState.edu for information on how to transfer donations.
