This summer, Director of Legal Studies and Professor Tom McClure gave continuing legal education (CLE) Zoom presentations to paralegal groups in Massachusetts and Oregon. McClure is in his third year as chair of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Paralegals.
In June, he was a member of a three-person panel on the “Future of Paralegal Studies,” which presented at annual paralegal seminar sponsored by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education in Boston. His focus was on trends in the field, including the shift to electronic research, online instruction, short-term credentials, and curriculum adaptations to the market.
In August, he spoke to the Portland, Oregon, chapter of the National Association of Legal Support Professionals. His topic was “The Allure of Using Paralegals—ABA Model Guidelines for Paralegal Utilization & Economic Benefits to Attorneys.”
McClure’s next CLE presentation is scheduled for mid-September when he and retired judge David Butler will present an in-person program on pre-trial motions to the McLean County Bar Association in Bloomington.
