Distinguished Professor Dr. Ali Riaz has published a book on the political history of Bangladesh. The book discusses the trends and patterns of Bangladeshi politics in the past 50 years.
The book, in Bengali, is titled Itihasher Dolachol (The Tumult of History). The book argues that three issues have remained central to the political history of Bangladesh; they are: democracy, economic development, and identity. He argues that since its establishment, the country’s journey toward a democratic system has faced ups and downs, and lately, witnessing a serious regression.
The country has made significant economic growth, but on the one hand its potential has remained unrealized, while on the other hand, disparity has continued to grow. As for the identity issue, it has been used in such a manner that it has become an instrument of polarization. The book has been published by Batighar (Dhaka).
