Distinguished Professor Anu Gokhale will present “AI: Countering Flaws in Algorithm Design and Applications” at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 26 in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center at Illinois State University.

The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Gokhale joined Illinois State University as an associate professor in 1995 in the Department of Technology, reaching full professor in 2001. She served as associate director of the Center for Applied Information Systems Technology and as coordinator for Computer Systems Technology. In 2011 she received the Outstanding University Researcher Award, the ISU Internationalization Award in 2017, and was honored with several research, teaching, and service awards. She was named Distinguished Professor in 2020.

Gokhale has been honored with four Fulbright awards: Fulbright Specialist in Data Analytics in Egypt, 2022; Fulbright Specialist in Cybersecurity in India, 2017; Fulbright Distinguished Chair in STEM+C in Brazil, 2016; and Fulbright Scholar in India, 2003. Additionally, she was a Faculty Fellow in Israel during summer 2017 and has broadened her horizon with three visiting professorships: Shandong University in China, spring 2017; University of Houston, summer 2013 and 2014; and Northeastern University in Boston, fall 2009.

She continues to be an invited keynote speaker at various international conferences. She is an active volunteer in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Gokhale has delivered multiple workshops focusing on inclusion and diversity in STEM as well as STEM public policy.
