Languages, Literatures, and Cultures welcomed Paul Rebeiz as the special Homecoming guest this year at an informal gathering where Rebeiz answered questions from current students about being a student at Illinois State, life and work abroad, world languages and ESL studies, and the career search. Mr. Rebeiz graduated with an MA in French Literature and a master’s certificate in TESOL in 1994. He currently teaches English as a Second Language and supports French-speaking English Language Learners at Urbana High School and Parkland Community College. Born in Lebanon and grew up in Urbana, Illinois, Rebeiz has been a champion of learning languages and cultures all his life and throughout the world with a variety of teaching positions including teaching ESL at Korea University in Seoul, and in the United Arab Emirates where he taught English and also developed and advised a student-run Korean language and culture club.
