This month, readers get to know Marci Rockey, assistant coordinator and academic advisor for the College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) program.

Job title/Position: Assistant Coordinator & Academic Advisor, College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) program

Job duties: I support all aspects of the CSPA graduate program and advise students.

How long have you been an employee at ISU?: 18 months

What do you love most about working at ISU?: I love being back at my own alma mater. I am a two-time graduate of ISU and an alum of the CSPA program. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with a lot of familiar faces that have been mentors to me as well as meeting new people through my current role.

What is one fact about yourself that might surprise people?: I met my husband when we both worked ISU Preview, and there were many Preview Guides in our wedding. We have now been married almost 20 years.

When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?: Reading, listening to podcasts, and trying to keep up with my three children.

What is your favorite spot on campus?: WZND Radio in Fell Hall will always have a special place in my heart, I remember working up the courage to go to an informational session as a new freshman. I ended up staying involved throughout my undergraduate career and it was such an amazing learning experience with the best people.

What quote most inspires you? Why?: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”-Maya Angelou. In my personal and professional life, this quote has always resonated with me. We have more of an impact on people than we realize; this is particularly true in student affairs.
