College League of Legends Schedule for Redbird Esports
College League of Legends Schedule Release

The Redbird Esports 2024 College League of Legends schedule will feature seven regular-season matches. This year, Illinois State University (ranked fourth in the North Conference) qualified for the Championship Division in the North Conference, based on pre-season seeding. The championship division is specifically designated for the top 32 teams in each region. Teams are then divided into four groups of eight teams, with each team playing one match against each other. The top four teams in each group will advance to the Championship Division playoffs.

Round one opens on January 27 at 3 p.m. against the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). This is the third meeting for the Redbirds against IIT. Last year, during round 6 of the 2023 CLOL regular season Illinois State defeated the Scarlet Hawks 2-0, with strong performances from Spencer “Meslo” Gega and William “Disconnector” Kim. The Redbirds also secured a 2-0 win against IIT in round six of the 2018 North Conference regular season.

Round two sees the Redbirds taking on Bethany Lutheran College on February 2 at 7 p.m. This is the first regular season meeting between Bethany Esports and Redbird Esports. The two teams did meet post-season in the 2022 North Conference playoffs, where Bethany Lutheran College beat the Redbirds 3-1. Ultimately, both teams advanced to the 2022 College League of Legends Championship. The Redbirds would secure ninth place in the Championship, defeating University of Texas at Austin, but falling to the University of California, Irvine.

Illinois State University kicks off round three against Dakota State University on February 9 at 7 p.m. This is the first meeting between the two teams. Round four on February 16 at 5 p.m. has the Redbirds taking on Washington University in St. Louis. This is the second meeting between the two squads. In 2022, Illinois State University was defeated by Washington University in St. Louis 0-2 during round five. In 2023, the Redbirds tied the series score by defeating the Bears 2-0, with dominant performances from Spenser “Meslo” Gega, William “Disconnector” Kim, and Cameron “Nausica” Maine.

Round five invites a new opponent for Illinois State, with a match up against University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on February 21 at 7 p.m. Illinois State University takes on Purdue University in round six on March 2 at 3 p.m. This is the second meeting between Purdue and Illinois State. In 2023, Purdue University defeated the Redbirds in the first round of the North Conference playoffs 3-0. While this initially knocked the Redbirds out of the championship bracket, Illinois State University was voted back into the tournament. Illinois State finished ninth in the country, falling 0-2 to St. Clair College in round two after beating Grand View University in round one 2-1.

The regular season closes against Manchester University in round seven on March 4 at 7:30 p.m. This is the first match up between the two teams.
