The Civil Service Council will feature a Civil Service employee at Illinois State University each month to highlight an exceptional colleague and the outstanding work being done on campus. This month, learn about and applaud Print Services printing production coordinator, Annie Jorgensen.

What is your position on campus and how long have you been with the University?

I am a printing production coordinator in Printing Services. I have been at Illinois State since October 2018.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

I enjoy working with other departments’ staff and faculty, helping them with their printing needs. This is my favorite part of my job. I get to interact with a wide variety of people from across campus.

I also really enjoy seeing the finished printed pieces that we at Printing Services produce. It is fun to see the job start with the designs created by the University Marketing and Communications (UMC) designers, or supplied by the campus clients, and how those files become a finished product. I especially enjoy the large format options such as banners and large signs. My favorite is a “fat head” we did of The Rock. In my previous job we did not print large format so it is cool to see the large and impactful pieces.

I also like interacting with our student workers. I keep in touch with them after they graduate. I enjoy seeing how ISU helped them achieve their goals and to see them succeed in their chosen fields.

What are your hobbies or favorite pastimes?

I love to spend time with my husband and two sons playing games, watching movies, and going on family vacations. Game nights with my brothers and their children are also something I really enjoy.

I am an avid reader and usually am reading a couple of books at the same time.

I also like swimming, or in my case, floating and catching some sun in our pool. It is by far my favorite summer activity.

I enjoy working on various craft projects. I like cheering on the Chicago Cubs and getting my photo taken with the 2016 World Series Trophy is something I will never forget.

What else would you like others to know about you or your time at ISU?

Working at ISU is really a dream come true. My husband has worked at ISU for 27 years and it always appeared to be a great place to work. Now, I get to experience working here and I can honestly say this is the best place I have ever worked. I enjoy attending plays, going to football and basketball games, and enjoying all that ISU has to offer outside of my daily work.
