Politics and Government alum Casey Peterson, director of Business Attraction for the Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council, has been recognized as an emerging leader in economic development by being selected as one of just five recipients of the Mid-America Economic Development Council’s 2024 Bob Ady Scholarship. Peterson earned his master’s degree in political science, applied community and economic development sequence in 2020.
The Bob Ady Scholarship Program was created to champion economic development professionals in their pursuit of professional growth and expertise. Offered to promising economic developers across 13 Midwestern states, the scholarship provides recipients with opportunities to attend conferences and receive professional mentoring from regional leaders and accomplished economic developers.
“Since joining our BNEDC in 2021, Casey has jumped at every opportunity to assist Bloomington-Normal’s local business community,” said Patrick Hoban, CEO of the BNEDC. “This is an excellent opportunity for Casey and McLean County, as he will continue to develop his skills as an economic developer and promote our community at both Mid-America EDC’s conferences.”
“I am honored to be among the five economic developers selected for the 2024 Bob Ady Scholarship,” said Peterson. “While we compete with every community across the nation for projects, the Mid-America states have a certain camaraderie due to our commonalities. I am eager to learn from my new mentors and bring more business to the Bloomington-Normal area.”
