The Chicago Suburban Alumni Network has teamed up with the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) to kick off this year’s #RedbirdImpact Month. By volunteering, you can make a #RedbirdImpact by helping the more than 71,500 neighbors served by the NIFB each week. Make it a day with Redbird friends and family to give back!

Redbird volunteers will assist with evaluating, sorting, labeling, and packing items for distribution to the community. Be sure to wear an Illinois State shirt and comfortable close-toed shoes. Volunteers will receive a few ISU swag pieces to take away as appreciation for making an impact.

When: 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 1
Where: Northern Illinois Food Bank, 273 Dearborn Court, Geneva

Space is limited. Those interested in making a #RedbirdImpact can register online through the NIFB website by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 17. Keep in mind the minimum age to volunteer at NIFB is 8 years old. Questions regarding the event can be sent to Alumni Engagement Director Gabriella Treviño.

How else to make a #RedbirdImpact

Alumni and friends can join a Redbird scheduled #RedbirdImpact service project including a special day on campus. Can’t make it to one of those scheduled activities? Register any volunteer hours between now and the end of June to help reach the 450-hour goal. Each time an alum or friend submits hours, they will also be entered to win the summer impact prize that will include items to enjoy a relaxing day outside after working hard to make a #RedbirdImpact.

Those interested in coordinating a service project for their area Redbirds in June can reach out to the Alumni Engagement Office for help with promotions and registrations.
