Health Promotion and Wellness is excited to welcome Dr. Jason Kilmer, associate professor in psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine, to campus on Wednesday, April 24. Kilmer will be delivering a talk, “Mental Health and Substance Use,” shedding light on the profound impact of alcohol, cannabis, and other drugs on the mental well-being of college students.

As an investigator on multiple studies evaluating prevention and intervention efforts targeting alcohol, cannabis, and other drug use among college students, Kilmer brings a wealth of knowledge to the discussion. His dedication extends beyond research, as he has actively engaged with college students and various student groups, including athletes, fraternity and sorority members, residential life staff, and first-year students.

Having shared his expertise on over 140 campuses nationwide, Kilmer’s visit promises to be an enriching experience for our campus community. Join us and learn about promoting healthier lifestyles among college students.

A faculty- and staff-focused session will be held from 10-11:30 a.m., and a student-focused session will be held from 4-5 p.m. in the Prairie Room of the Bone Student Center.

All are invited to attend either session of their choosing. Contact Nikki Brauer at nbgegel@IllinoisState.edu with questions.
