Political science major Jack Abraham is the recipient of the Grabill-Homan Scholarship, which is awarded by the peace and conflict resolution studies program. He is pursuing a minor in peace and conflict resolution studies.
Jack has been very involved on campus and in the broader community. As a student at Illinois State, he founded Citizens for Equitable Food Access (CEFA), a group of ISU students and community members working to reduce food insecurity on campus. He also serves as treasurer of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honors society, and is a member of the Planning Committee of the ISU chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Additionally, Jack is an elected public official. He is an elected member of the McLean County Board, representing District 6. He serves on several committees and advocates for immigrant rights, local government accessibility, and public official accountability and transparency. His activities on the McLean County Board have also included efforts to update solitary confinement procedures in the county jail and to enhance police accountability. Additionally, he has also worked to address issues surrounding housing rights and essential services. His priorities as an elected official reflect a deep commitment to peace and justice. Jack plans to go to law school and hopes to practice public interest law.
