As we approach the end of the spring semester, University Housing Services is pleased to announce this term’s recipients of the Resident Assistant and Community Assistant (RACA) Academic award. The RACA academic scholarship is presented to resident (RA) and community assistants (CA) who exemplify success in the classroom, as well as in the RA/CA Leadership role. This semester, five $500 academic scholarships were awarded to outstanding students.

A proud recipient of the RACA Academic Scholarship, Kassidy Matykiewicz is a dedicated RA in Watterson Towers.

“Kassidy Matykiewicz’s dedication to her role as a resident assistant stands out. She actively engages with her residents to make them feel heard and supported,” says her supervisor.

Matykiewicz is repeatedly applauded by UHS staff and co-workers for her commitment to building community with her residents on her floor.

“Kassidy’s efforts to foster a sense of community are evident,” says her supervisor. “Both her resident and supervisor recommendations detail the care she gives her community, the responsiveness, professionalism, and great role modeling.”

Matykiewicz balances her duties as an RA with her commitment to academic excellence.

“Kassidy’s dedication to her academic pursuits is evident through her impressive academic record,” notes her supervisor. “With a cumulative GPA of 4.0/4.0 and a Dean’s List achievement in all semesters, she demonstrates her commitment to achieving excellence in her leadership role and studies.”

Overall, Matykiewicz’s outstanding performance in her role as an RA and her dedication to her academic studies led her to be a deserving candidate for the RACA Academic Scholarship Award.
