The Department of Politics and Government held its 2024 Annual Award Ceremony April 19 in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center.

About 100 students, family members, alumni, retired faculty, current faculty, and members of the Attorney Advisory Board and of the College of Arts and Sciences attended the event. More than 30 graduate and undergraduate students were recognized in the various subfields of political science and legal studies as well as for their overall achievements. The ceremony also included recognition of members of both the award-winning Model United Nations team and Mock Trial team as well as the induction of 14 new members into Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honorary society.

The ceremony also recognizes faculty’s outstanding teaching. Selected by members of the honorary society, Dr. Meghan Leonard received the Pi Sigma Alpha Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Noha Shawki was awarded the Hibbert R. Roberts Teaching Excellence Recognition Award. The program was jointly sponsored by the Department and Pi Sigma Alpha.
