Open enrollment decisions bring changes for July 1

Illinois State University benefit-eligible employees who updated or made changes via the state’s CMS Benefit Choice from May 1-31 this year will see those changes take effect on July 1. Deductions in conjunction with those choices will be reflected in pay advices on July 15 for semi-monthly exempt employees and on July 31 for hourly and monthly-exempt employees. Individuals who, during Sick Leave Bank Open Enrollment, made an election to donate to the sick leave bank, and who qualify with the minimum hours to deposit in July, will see that donation reflected in iPeople by July 10.

Tuition waiver requests available now

Faculty and staff who have a dependent child attending Illinois State University should submit a tuition waiver application to Human Resources as soon as possible. This will ensure that a credit is received on the first tuition bill. The Tuition Waiver Application (and tuition waiver forms for other schools in Illinois) is located on the Human Resources website. One application needs to be filed each academic year and applications must be received before the end of the semester in which it is being applied. Please submit all waivers to HRTuitionWaivers@IllinoisState.edu.

Updates to policies 3.1.25, 3.1.5, and 3.2.5

A small change in policies 3.1.25 Transfer of Benefits, 3.1.27 Payout Procedure, and 3.2.5 Vacation will allow the payout of vacation hours when moving from a vacation-accruing to a non-vacation eligible position. Individuals who are moving from a vacation-accruing position (with a payable vacation hours balance) into a position that does not accrue this vacation will have balances paid out on the earliest available payroll possible. Current policies can be viewed online at Policy.IllinoisState.edu/employee.
