Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality (EMDH) student employees Kaydence Wendt and Bella Chlada were awarded the 2024 John Ward and Louise Green Scholarship.

Wendt has been employed with EMDH for over two years and currently holds two positions. As a social media and outreach intern, she assists in running the department’s social media accounts and representing EMDH at tabling events, and as a student event planner, she works with the event services and catering team to help schedule events in the Bone Student Center. Chlada has worked in the EMDH hiring office as a student hiring manager for the past two years. She assists with implementing new hiring processes and facilitates communication with students regarding employment and onboarding. Both students actively participate in Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and other campus associations.

EMDH director, Bill Legett, stated that the committee received a large pool of strong candidates this year, making the selection process even more challenging. “We have many talented and hard-working students in EMDH, and I am very proud of them. I have no doubt that all of them will be very successful after they graduate from ISU,” Legett remarked.

Established in 1970, the John Ward and Louise Green Scholarship aims to promote academic excellence among student employees in EMDH at Illinois State University. All EMDH student employees meeting the qualifications are encouraged to apply for this scholarship once the application period opens next spring semester.
