At Illinois State University, internships are more than just a line on your resume—they’re pivotal experiences that blend academic learning with real-world skills. Led by Dr. Chiharu Ishida-Lambert and Dr. Rodger Singley, the Department of Marketing offers diverse opportunities with Fortune 500 companies and local nonprofits alike. Whether aiming for job offers or enhancing your resume, internships provide invaluable career insights and networking opportunities. Explore how you can leverage your degree with us at Business.IllinoisState.edu/about/marketing/internships.

For many students, internships turn into job offers at graduation, while other students engage in an internship primarily to gain experience and add value to their resume. A professional internship can provide a good preview of what a student will experience in a specific career. Internship experience often leads either directly or indirectly—via networking—to a professional position after graduation.

Students and their families spend a great deal of time and financial resources earning an undergraduate degree, and engaging in an internship is an excellent way to leverage the value of this investment of resources. Complete information about the internship program is available at Business.IllinoisState.edu/about/marketing/internships.

The Innovation Consulting Community, led by Dr. Peter Kaufman, is another great opportunity for marketing students to get involved and gain experience. Students are teamed, receive a coach, and consult for an organization. It is a major resume-builder suitable for a student at any grade level and may also count as course credit. Contact Kaufman for more details at pkaufma@ilstu.edu.
