As the presidential election approaches, the Department of Politics and Government is hosting a series of talks on issues relevant to the election called Democracy in Focus: The 2024 Election. Each event is free and open to all.
The first of these lectures will be Wednesday, September 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Old Main Room of the Bone Student Center. Dr. Joe Tafoya of DePaul University will give a talk titled “Mobilizing the politically invisible: political participation and the unlisted Latino population in Chicago.” Tafoya will explore how Latinos are overrepresented among the “politically invisible” population and discuss tools for mobilizing this population. The event is sponsored by the Harold K. Sage Foundation and the Illinois State University Foundation Fund, the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the Department of Politics and Government.
