All members of the Illinois State University community are invited to a retirement reception celebrating David Greenfield and his achievements at Illinois State. The reception will be held on Friday, September 27, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Atrium of the Bone Student Center. Brief remarks will take place at 4:30, and light refreshments will be provided.
After more than 34 years of dedicated service, David Greenfield is retiring from Illinois State’s Office of Technology Solutions. Greenfield’s retirement marks the end of an outstanding career spanning over three decades of service where he has been a pivotal force in advancing technology in the pursuit of better communication and learning for all.
Greenfield’s career began at Milner Library with the development of one of the University’s first campus networks and the integration of departmental servers. He then moved to Computer User Services, where he established the University Computer Help Desk and played a key role in the University’s transition to UNIX-based email. In 2001, Greenfield began his time at TechZone and Student Technologies. Over the years, he has led multiple moves and remodels of the retail storefront in a spirit of entrepreneurship and superior “tech” customer service. During his time at Illinois State, Greenfield has also served as an appropriate use coordinator, was part of the nationally recognized Digital Citizen Project, led software licensing with client vendor relations, and coordinated tech orientation sessions for incoming students to ease their transition to university life and enhance their academic progress.
