Join the Dean of Students Office in celebrating the retirement of Jill Benson, associate dean of students, who will retire from Illinois State University on March 1 after 31 years of dedicated service. A reception in her honor will be held Friday, February 28, from 3-5 p.m., at the Aaron Leetch Stadium Club at Hancock Stadium, with remarks at 4 p.m. All members of the campus community are invited to attend.

Benson’s career in Student Affairs began at Illinois State University in August 1994 as assistant director in the Office of Student Life. She went on to serve as director of the Office of Student Life in 1999 and was appointed associate dean of students in 2005. Throughout her tenure, Benson has been deeply involved in nearly every aspect of the Dean of Students Office, including most recently the dean on duty program, Parent and Family Services, student navigators, commencement, and advising the Student Organization Fee Board.

A passionate advocate for students, Benson has been a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ Student Support Fund and the Basic Needs Insecurity Fund. Her unwavering commitment to student success earned her the Neal R. Gamsky Quality of Student Life Award in 2005-06, as well as numerous STAR Awards within the Division of Student Affairs.
