Student Access and Accommodation Services, in collaboration with the Center for Integrated Professional Development, is thrilled to announce Neurodiversity Celebration Week, happening March 17-23, 2025. This week-long event aims to embrace, educate, and empower the Illinois State University community by raising awareness about the value of neurodiversity.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week will feature engaging activities, workshops, and resources designed to foster inclusion and deepen understanding of neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive variabilities. Highlights of the week include:

Autism Goes to College screening and discussion

  • Date: Wednesday, March 19
  • Time: 2-4 p.m.
  • Location: STV 401A
  • Registration is required by Tuesday, March 18

Embracing Neurodiversity in the Classroom workshop
This online session focuses on the natural variation in neurological traits, exploring the strengths of neurodivergent students and strategies for fostering supportive, inclusive classroom environments. Participants will gain practical tools for creating spaces where all students can thrive.

  • Date: Thursday, March 20
  • Time: 2-3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Online Workshop
  • Registration is required by Wednesday, March 19

Throughout the week, educational resources will also be shared via social media, including facts and stats, and practical tips to support neurodiversity in our community.

These events are open to ISU faculty, course instructors, graduate students, and staff. Seats are limited, so early registration is encouraged to secure a spot.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the richness of diverse minds and contribute to a more inclusive ISU community. For more details and to register, visit the Neurodiversity Celebration Week webpage or contact Lori Henehan or Mayuko Nakamura. Together, let’s learn, connect, and celebrate neurodiversity week!
