The Department of Psychology will recognize Alumnus of the Year: Lifetime Achievement awardee Thomas (Tom) Carroll ’84, M.S. ’89, on Alumni Day, Friday, October 17. An instructional assistant professor at Illinois State University, Carroll will present a talk titled “From DeGarmo Hall to the Boardroom: An Unexpected Journey in Time” from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in 551 DeGarmo Hall.
Carroll received his B.S. in psychology and M.S. in clinical psychology from Illinois State University. While he was a student and after his graduation, Carroll held clinical positions in the Bloomington-Normal area at both The Baby Fold and BroMenn Healthcare. Then from 1995 to 2017, he served in various positions at R.R. Donnelley, a global Fortune 500 company based in Chicago.
Since 2018, Carroll has been serving as an instructional assistant professor in the Mennonite College of Nursing. Throughout his career, Carroll has been actively involved in a wide range of both professional and public service activities and received recognition for numerous achievements and contributions to the fields of clinical psychology, human resources, and nursing in the areas of leadership, training, community/public service, and direct clinical service.
