Join us as we celebrate Diwali by enjoying food, activities, and cultural learning!
Diwali, or Deepavali, is a festival celebrated by India and South Asian Diaspora communities around the world. Spanning five days (October 18-22 this year), it symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Although celebrations vary across regions and cultural groups, Diwali is a time for lighting diyas, decorating homes with colorful rangoli, and coming together for feasts and fireworks. Families share vegetarian feasts and sweets and as this festival reminds people to celebrate renewal, prosperity, and the enduring light that brings people together. AsiaConnect enjoyed celebrating Diwali last year with ISU community and students (pictures below). We are hosting Diwali celebration again this year—please join us to celebrate and learn about this beautiful cultural tradition!
